T-ara (티아라) Profile

T-ara (also known as Tiara or 티아라) is a 7-member girl group out of Core Contents Media. The same entertainment agency in which artists like Davichi, Seeya, Coed, Noh Min Woo, Black Pearl and SG Wannabe are in. T-ara debuted on July 29th 2009 on MBC's 'Golden Fishery', they are the first group to debut on a variety TV show. Before the 7-member T-ara, T-ara was a 5-member girl group. Early June 2009 two months before the girls' official debut, former leader Jiae and member Jiwon quit the group. They believed that the concept of T-ara did not match them. Immediately after, Jeon Boram, the daughter of Jeon Youngrok was added into T-ara. Three weeks before T-ara's official debut, Soyeon and Qri were added into T-ara. After a year CCM added a new member into group. Thus making T-ara a 7-member girl group. 

      

Boram

Birth name : Jeon Boram ( 전보람 )

Birthday : March 22, 1986

Posisiton : Vocalist

Boram was the first new member to be added to the group after two former members, Jiae and Jiwon, quit the group in mid-2009. She was contacted by the CEO of Core Contents Media after he watched a video clip of Boram dancing to BoA's "My Name".

Qri

Birth name : Lee Ji Hyun ( 이지현 )

Birthday : December 12, 1986

Posisiton : Leader, Lead Vocalist

She studied in the Juyeob High School, and then at the Myungji University, Dept. of Theatre and Visual Arts, same as group member, Boram. She was a model before her debut.

Soyeon

Birth name : Park In Jung (박인정)

Birthday : October 5, 1987

Posisiton : Main Vocalist, Spokesperson

Soyeon was the second new member to be added to the group after two former members, Jiae and Jiwon, quit the group in mid 2009. She is widely regarded to be the main vocalist of T-ara.

Hyomin

Birth name : Park Sun Young (박선영)

Birthday : May 30, 1989

Posisiton : Leader, Lead Vocalist

Hyomin was a famous internet Ulzzang before she debuted. On June 14,2011, Core Contents Media announced that Hyomin would take over leadership as T-ara's 3rd leader for their comeback album, John Travolta Wannabe,   and Japanese promotions.

Ham Eun Jung

Birth name : Ham Eun Jung (함은정)

Birthday : December 12, 1988

Posisiton : Vocalist, Lead Rapper

Originally trained in acting. From the group's debut in July 29, 2009 until September 2010, she was the second leader of T-ara. She and Jiyeon are the only two members of T-ara to be trained in acting. Instead, the two switched over to singing despite their original intentions.

Hwayoung

Birth name : Ryu Hwa Young (류화영)

Birthday : April 22, 1993

Posisiton : Main Rapper

Hwayoung was added into T-ara in July 2010 as the 7th member.

She was scouted after she and her sister made an appearance on SBS's variety show, Star King. Both of them were then recruited into Core Contents Media, debuting in T-ara and Coed-School respectively.

Jiyeon

Birth name : Park Ji Yeon (박지연)

Birthday : June 7, 1993

Posisiton : Vocalist, Main Dancer, Maknae

In 2008, she entered and won the Smart Model Contest. Subsequently, she auditioned at the Mnet Casting System and joined the company. T-ara debuted on July 29, 2009, when Ji-yeon was 16 years old, the majority of the members were in their early twenties. As of April 2011, she remains the youngest member of the group.
